Before you submit any work to
SynergEbooks, please read the FAQs section (http://www.synergebooks.com/faqs.html)
and these guidelines thoroughly.
- SynergEbooks is a
non-subsidy digital publishing house, not a vanity
press or self-publishing site. We pay royalties of 15-40% on electronic
formats* and CD-ROMs, and 15-30% on paperbacks*. Children's book
and illustrators will receive 25% royalties (each) in all formats, unless otherwise stated in their contract**.
SynergEbooks will NOT guarantee to put your title into print (see FAQs
for more information).
*See FAQs and/or the Author
Contract or Children's Author Contract for more information on how
royalties are distributed.
**If you have illustrated your
own children's book(s), you will receive the same royalties as a

writers. We expect that anyone who is submitting a book to a
digital publisher is computer literate, and understands that most of
the marketing done for a book published in this format will be via the
internet. If you are not sure what it means to be digitally published
after reading the FAQs, we highly recommend you purchase at least one
digital book from our website to see what it's all about before
submitting your Work.
- Though we accept submissions
in all available genres, we are looking
specifically for the following genres:
Nonfiction, Self-Help, Magic, Paranormal, Native
American, New Age, Spirituality
- We publish most
fiction, some poetry, and most genres of nonfiction. We do NOT accept
works promoting racial hatred or violence, sexism, or homophobia.
Please browse our site to become familiar with the genres we publish.
We do not accept short stories (books under 20,000 words), educational
books or essays. Erotica should be submitted to our imprint, SynErotica
- We receive hundreds
submissions each year, and accept less than 10%. If you
poetry, it must be an anthology written by the author(s) submitting and
it must have a unique and specific topic. We
no longer accept queries for poetry
unless the topic of the collection/anthology has already been created.
- We no longer accept work by
Independent Authors - all authors need to sign a contract with
SynergEbooks to be listed on the website.
**Every book is put into as
many electronic formats as possible, including but not limited to PDF
ePub (Nook & Kindle), and MOBI (for Kindle).
- Please note that TO
SUBMIT WORK TO SYNERGEBOOKS, YOU MUST BE ONLINE, OWN YOUR OWN
COMPUTER/LAPTOP AND HAVE A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS at all times
(see FAQs). We are an online publishing company and we correspond with
authors by email. Submissions sent via regular mail will be ignored if
an email address is not included and if there is not a SASE included
with your return address.
- We no longer accept
submissions made via an agent, though you can have an agent and still
be accepted for publication. Your must submit your work

- Any book you send to
be your own original work. You must own the copyright and all
publishing rights. The author retains ALL RIGHTS to his/her work. You
may have your book published elsewhere in a DIFFERENT format,
you must inform SynergEbooks of this fact beforehand, in writing (via
email or regular mail) and provide an ISBN number and/or link to said
book once it's published. Not doing so may result in your contract being nullified.
TO SUBMIT TO
(Those who do not follow these
be automatically rejected unless otherwise previously requested by the
Publisher.) We try to send notification of why a query is being rejected, but that is not always the case.
- First, be sure to check to
see if we are open for submissions. Your query, written in the BODY OF
should include a brief (no longer than 2 paragraphs or 300
words) synopsis of the book, along with the
genre(s) you believe best fits your book, and a brief bio (no more than
200 words) of your writing credits (if any) and why you think your book
will be a good fit for SynergEbooks.
- Send the first 3 chapters of
your book via attached mail (NOT in the body of the
email) in Word (.doc, .docx or .rtf) format ONLY. Any other formats
will automatically disqualify your submission, though you are welcome
to resubmit with the right attachment file. DO NOT SEND A
DIFFERENT FILE FOR EACH CHAPTER.
FILES ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED ~
(If you send in more than one file attachment with
an email, it automatically gets converted into a .zip file,
so make sure to only send in ONE attachment with your submission)
Label the file using title
of the book
- abbreviated, if necessary. Be sure to include
your name and email address on the first page of the attached file so
you can more easily be contacted. (If we like your work, we may ask you
to send the entire manuscript), along with the
description (no more than 2 paragraphs), a brief biography, which
should include any writing credits, and if you will be supplying a
cover (see FAQs).
- You must have completed the
work you are submitting for publication. The only exception would be a
series; in which case, only the first in the series must be completed
at the time of submission, but a tentative schedule for completion of
the next in the series will be expected.
- We do accept queries
inquiring if a certain type of work is suitable for publication with us.
manuscript is edited and polished to a highly professional standard.
A manuscript full of errors is a mark of an amateur and will be
rejected out-of-hand. SynergEbooks also reserves the right to drop any
title that needs more than the basic line editing during the
publication process. If you are rejected for editing, you may
resubmit once your manuscript has been professionally edited.
- When you send your
submission in .doc, .docx or .rtf format, DO NOT use fancy formats
(Times New Roman or Arial font preferred). Submit the manuscript as ONE
document, not a separate file for each chapter or section. OUTLINES ARE
NOT NECESSARY. A TABLE OF CONTENTS can be useful for nonfiction
submissions but is not required.

first one bounces back).
- All online queries
will receive a
reply within 30 days - if you mail your query, it may take up to 60
days for a reply (see NOTES below) and most likely the reply will be via email. Make sure to add
firstname.lastname@example.org to your address book so the reply won't be put into
If you are asked to submit your entire manuscript or to read through the Author Contract and do not reply via
email within 7 business days, your submission will be considered
rejected and you will have to resubmit to be considered again.
NOTE: If you send your
submission via regular mail, your work will automatically be rejected
unless you include a valid email address. If you want your submission
returned to you, you will need to include a self-addressed, stamped
envelope. Do NOT send the entire manuscript if you mail your submission.
If we accept your book
publication, you will be sent an AUTHOR CONTRACT via
email. This is your time to ask any questions. Once all your questions
have been answered to your satisfaction, you are to return 2
signed copies of the AUTHOR CONTRACT with your signature via
regular mail. Then your book will be put in the queue for
publication. The month your book is scheduled for
publication, it will be edited and
sent to you for final proofreading. Any changes and
corrections must be made at this stage. Once your book has been
converted to PDF (Adobe Reader) format, it will be sent to you for your
final approval. This process may take from 6 months to 1 year,
depending on our submission volume at that time, the length of your
book, the genre, the amount of editing that needs to be done, and any
number of other factors. A PUBLICATION SCHEDULE will be made available
for you to keep track of the publication date of your work, though that
is subject to change.
SynergEbooks will work with you and a cover artist to create a cover
that fits the subject
of your book. Please note that if you do not approve of the cover we
have created for you, you may use another cover artist, though the cost for that will have to be covered by you.
SynergEbooks does reserve the
right to reject a cover that is created by the author or for the author
by another party. Authors are responsible for payment of print covers
unless they opt to use the digital cover w/ a template (see FAQs). The print and digital
covers may not be exactly the same if created by different cover
artists. All print covers must
be created to the printer's specifications. Digital covers created for you through SynergEbooks are free.
