Neither sister had realized the flight attendant was standing in the aisle beside Maxcine. Now that they had, they wished they hadn't, because after a graphic gesture, he used that same finger to point toward the front of the plane. It wasn't at all difficult to see that far; the plane wasn't by any means big.

“Maxi, something tells me Bob the Dolt finally believes that I saw a guy hiding a knife.”

“I have to believe you,” Bob mumbled. “I realized you hadn't imagined seeing a knife.”

“So you've come to apologize,” Isabel grinned smugly.

“No. I'm distancing myself from trouble.”

“Listen to me, peoples!” a formidable skyjacker shouted at precisely that moment.
